Springtime is chicken time in Oklahoma! Feed stores and farm supplies have heat lamps and bins filled with all varieties of chicks—cute, fluffy and peeping. Inspired by rural and urban chicken farmers alike. Chicken Scratch celebrates the humble chicken. Roosters proudly crow to signal the start of the day. Hens nest and scratch the ground looking for insects. Chicks and eggs are hidden in the grass. The flock is busy all day—roaming, foraging, preening until shadows lengthen and they return to the coop.
